Его досье или просто история...
Tom passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the things he loved most: his wife, cats and AVSIM. He is survived by his wife, Denise Allenworth; mother, Retha Allenworth; brother, Steve Allenworth and wife, Linnea (Washington State); and sister, Linda Allen and husband, Rick (Georgia). He was preceded in death by his father, George Verne Allenworth. He leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves a loving community called AVSIM (which was brought online in early 1997).
Tom was a loving and caring husband. He was the founder, publisher and CEO of AVSIM, a hobby he turned into a non-profit business with thousands of dollars. In addition, he was in the US Navy (1969-1973) – Navy Aviation; Peace Corps Volunteer-Fiji Group 28 (1977-1979); and Director of International Business Development, Northrop Grumman (Sperry), Retired 1987-2012). Throughout Tom’s life he lived or conducted business in the countries of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, New Hebrides, Brazil, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Luxemburg, Bahamas, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Mexico, and United Kingdom. Over Tom’s lifetime he met many people and had lots of contacts. Tom leaves behind two special friends, Ray Miller and Julian Heck, as well as all of his friends at TGIF, Bonefish Grill and the AVSIM community. Special thanks to Dr. Dan Becker for caring enough to visit Tom when he was discharged from the hospital. Also thanks to the 8 West staff at UVA for their caring and professional manner during his hospitalization. Last, but certainly not least, a special thanks to the Hospice Staff (Mary, Megan, Suzanne, Cindy, Amy and others) for their loving kindness in a time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, 670 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville VA, 22911. It has been learned that AVSIM's Founder & CEO, Mr. Tom Allensworth, has passed away from a terminal illness early this morning April 4th. The AVSIM Staff and Community wishes to address our deepest sympathies to Tom's family and his many friends here at AVSIM. We have lost our founder and a good friend.
